Join independent perfumer Ashley Eden Kessler, Perfumer at Studio Sentir and Director of Education at the Institute for Art and Olfaction for a Casa Posta event weekend of deep learning, with a focus on three crucial floral accords: Jasmine, Rose, and Orange Blossom. These three accords are fundamental to understanding how to construct an accord as well as a complete perfume, and serve as a perfect entry point for the beginner student and an invaluable tool for the more experienced perfumer. These three florals form the foundation for the creation of all other florals, such as Carnation, Geranium, Lily of the Valley, Tuberose, Gardenia, Lilac, Narcissus, Paperwhites, Hyacinth, Wisteria and more.
Explore the beautiful capabilities of perfumery in this highly detailed, professional and technical perfume-blending intensive course. This hands-on session will focus on helping students train their nose, expand their capabilities for blending, and learn a crucial set of floral accords. We will learn to evaluate raw materials, explore the ideas of duplicating rare natural extracts, live blooming flowers, and fantasy accords.
Students will train their noses as Ashley leads them through a thorough study of the molecular components of the three staple florals. As a class, students will blend the three accords, learn how to evaluate formulas, and spend plenty of hands-on time creating formulations.
At the end of the weekend, students will leave with three fully fleshed out formulas, as well as a deeper understanding of the artistry and science behind perfumery.
This class is for people at all levels, but some basic understanding of perfumery is recommended.
Transportation will be provided both days from/to Manhattan. We will depart daily at 9 am from 500 west 43rd St by Hertz Parking.
